Wireless Charging

Cables and sockets are out

We all knew it as a vision for the future: "Wireless Power" – the ability to wireless charge mobile and smart phones, and notebooks. Back in 2010, the dream had already become reality, as demonstrated at the ORGATEC office trade fair in Cologne: C+P Möbelsysteme was the first European manufacturer to integrate functioning wireless solutions into office furniture.

C+P utilizes the very latest technology – and strives to make it easy to use. Tobias Walter, Director of Sales and Marketing, knows that "most people want to be able to use technology easily without first having to mutate into computer experts. Which is why we want to make state-of-the-art technology in modern furniture easy to use – for everyone." Wireless technology is one element of this philosophy.

The very latest wireless control and presentation technologies were operated using iPhone, iPad & Co. at the Orgatec 2010. At the same time, an iPhone and notebook were placed on the table and charged – again without the need for cable or socket. Invisible wireless power modules concealed beneath the table top make it all happen. They detect appliances and batteries and supply just the right amount of charge needed. Further live presentations followed in May 2011 at the "Office Exhibition" in Dubai and in June 2011 at the "NeoCon" in Chicago where C+P integrated "Qi"-compatible wireless charging equipment from its American alliance partner Leggett & Platt beneath the tabletop of the Premio management range of tables.

To ensure future-proof compatibility, C+P has opted for the "Qi" standard of the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), of which Leggett & Platt is also a member. WPC is using this standard to promote an internationally completely compatible solution for wireless charging. "Qi" represents the Chinese character for energy.
